What is tank calibration?

Volumetric calibration of tanks in the proven most accurate method when preparing calibration tables for a given tank. This method is a controlled filling of all or part of the tank with parallel measurement of the volume by means of a reference flow meter combined with the readings of a reference level meter.

Why is it needed in your industry?

Volumetric calibration of tanks is required in many sectors including petroleum, food, pharmaceutical, alcohol and many others.

As a legal requirement of Regulation H-18, recalibration of tanks is mandatory every 5 years. The frequent expansion and contraction of the reservoir, due to the hydrostatic pressure of the liquids, the change of the operating temperature, the movement of the earth layers, requires a precise calibration of the reservoirs.

How do we work at NSYS?

NSYS provides full control over your tanks, regardless of their volume, type, location.

NSYS tank calibration services help you measure and accurately determine quantities/volumes in your industry and maintain good contractual relationships with customers, partners and government institutions.

The system we work with automatically records the data from the measurements in a database, which after completion is processed by specialized software. The prepared calibration table is checked by our specialists and certified in a laboratory. The calibration tables are handed over to the customer approved by the accredited laboratory within 20 days after the physical calibration.

How does the process work?

The calibration of a tank takes two to three days, which complicates the normal activity of the respective object. The tank is cleaned carefully, after which they make the control measurements, the data of which serve for the certification of the tank. Subsequently, the tank is dried and prepared for filling with the corresponding fluid.

Our experts assist during the entire process and provide appropriate prescriptions if necessary.

The process is carried out in conjunction with colleagues from certification laboratories who monitor the process and certify the capacity of each tank.

What methodology do we use?

There are two methods of tank calibration:

- Volumetric method – a calibrating liquid is poured in and pumped out, and corresponding measurements are made based on its volume;

- Geometric method – measurements of the slope and volume of the respective vessel are made using laser technology.

We at NSYS use a volumetric method.

What are the benefits of tank calibration?

  • Lower costs in the long run because internal measurements are much more accurate and rigorous
  • Your company will meet all legal requirements
  • Peace of mind and security during inspections and saving on fines
  • Control of suppliers and personnel
  • You offer a product of higher quality and correctness to customers (this is not correct in my opinion)

NSYS provides the tank calibration service to its customers, through which it greatly facilitates the processes in the measurement and reporting of the activities in the industry.
